Sacred Marks: A Story from the Childhood of Craig Jessop

December 31, 2024 by Issac Goeckeritz

Last year, my wife Becca and I interviewed Craig Jessop for a program I was producing for PBS Utah. Afterwards, Craig asked my wife and I an interesting question, “Could I show you my childhood home?” We got in the car and five minutes later were at a small 1950’s home in Millville, Utah. Craig told us about the story behind the home and I was so impressed. We also learned that Craig needed my wife’s opinion about the recent backyard renovation. (My wife is a paraplegic and uses a manual wheelchair… you’ll see why her thoughts would be helpful when you watch the video.) I reached out to Craig a couple months ago to see if we could come back to Millville and do a story. Hope you enjoy it.

Unity

September 05, 2024 by Issac Goeckeritz

For 20 years I have loved the opportunity to create an annual video for the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah. This year, the theme was unity. We interviewed several members of the religious community in Salt Lake City and told the story of how the Bishop’s Dinner, a capital campaign to preserve the Cathedral began 20 years ago.

The Original Wedding Videographer

May 02, 2024 by Issac Goeckeritz

I met Michael Nelson in the early 2000’s and have always be interested in is story. Michael can say he did something extremely unique: in 1984 he created the first commercial wedding video product. Michael discovered he could create an affordable video by shooting on a professional video camera, but recording to a consumer grade VHS deck via a speciality made cable. He then edited the videos shot by shot using two VHS decks.

The product wasn’t immediately popular, as many potential customers didn’t own VHS players. Michael would carry a television and VHS player to clients homes in hopes of making a sale. But 40 years and 2700 weddings later, Michael is still passionate about preserving history and memories through the wedding video.

Learning to Fall

November 01, 2023 by Issac Goeckeritz

This is a unique inspirational story from my wife’s childhood that I have been wanting to share for sometime. I’ve always found inspiration in Becca’s willingness to not fear failure, but use it as a means to eventual success.

Vinberg Laboratory

August 01, 2023 by Issac Goeckeritz

I get to create a number of videos for the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah Hospital. Some of my favorites feature the research of the doctors there. Filming this video in Dr. Franz Vinberg’s lab was super cool. It’s inspiring to see the work he and other researchers are doing to prevent blindness.

Backstage with Neal McDonough

December 22, 2022 by Issac Goeckeritz

I love the opportunity I get each December to capture and then later edit together bonus content for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s PBS Christmas program. This year I was able to follow narrator Neal McDonough backstage, capture an interview and put together this video that accompanies the show’s release on PBS.org and PBS Passport.
